Ne-Chee Friendship Centre is committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible environment for all community members. We strive to ensure that our programs, services, and facilities are fully accessible, honoring the dignity and independence of individuals with disabilities.
Our Commitment
In alignment with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Ne-Chee Friendship Centre is dedicated to removing barriers and creating an inclusive space. We are committed to:

- Integrating accessibility into all aspects of our operations, from program delivery to facility management.

Accessible Facilities
Our building is equipped with features to support accessibility:
- Accessible Entrances: Main entrances are equipped with automatic door openers for ease of access.
- Chair Lift and Elevator: A chair lift is available at the main entrance, with an intercom for assistance if needed.
- Wide Doorways and Hallways: Our doors and hallways are designed to accommodate wheelchairs and other mobility devices.
- Accessible Washrooms: Washrooms include accessible stalls, automated faucets, and paper towel dispensers.
Accessible Services
Ne-Chee Friendship Centre ensures accessible services by:
- Welcoming service animals and support persons within our facilities.
- Supporting the use of assistive devices and providing staff assistance when needed.
- Offering accessible formats and communication supports upon request, such as large-print documents or audio formats.
- Posting notifications of service disruptions on our website, Facebook page, and within our facility to keep community members informed.

Accessibility Policy
Ne-Chee Friendship Centre welcomes people with disabilities and their service animals. Service animals are allowed on the parts of our premises that are open to the public and third parties.
We communicate with people with disabilities in ways that take into account their disability. When asked, we will provide information about our organization and its services, including public safety information, in accessible formats or with communication supports:
a) in a timely manner, taking into account the person’s accessibility needs due to disability; and
b) at no cost
We will consult with the person making the request in determining the suitability of an accessible format or communication support. If we determine that the information or communications are unconvertible, we shall provide the requestor with:
a) an explanation as to why the information or communications are unconvertible; and
b) a summary of the unconvertible information or communications.
Ne-Chee Friendship Centre welcomes feedback on how we provide accessible customer service. Customer feedback will help us identify barriers and respond to concerns.

Feedback will be directed to our Executive Director (or Designate – Board Chair or Office Manager) who you can expect to hear back from in no more than 10 days.
It is important to note that accommodations can be made during our recruitment and hiring process. We will notify job applicants when they are individually selected to participate in the selection process that accommodations are available upon request. We will consult with the applicants and provide or arrange suitable accommodation.
